The Palace of Amare
I was always amazed by the majesty and architecture of medieval castles. While I do not have the resources to build a castle in the physical world, I have become proficient enough to use my expertise in 3D modeling. Utilizing the software Maya, I created one of these majestic structures. The outer architecture and interior design of the castle itself were inspired by Disney movies, Peach's castle from Super Mario 64, as well as my visit to Buckingham Palace. In order to achieve a nostalgic feel, I created and applied multiple custom textures on the outside of the building. For the sky, I resized a cube so it enveloped the scene, and simply retextured it to an image texture of clouds. As per the interior of the castle, I used reflective shaders in order to create the stunning, eye-catching reflective surfaces featured throughout. Regarding the other elements of the video, the opening title and ending were created by using After Effects. I used multiple graphic effects and layer styles in order to give the text a cinematic, three-dimensional appearance. This intro and outro was inspired by the titles featured in the Lord of the Rings movies as well as the Final Fantasy video games. Moreover, I composed the music throughout the piece, which was inspired by the works of Joe Hisashi and Cody Fry. The software used to create this was a digital audio workstation, Ableton Live, using a digital orchestra. Overall, my creative efforts on this project lead to a complete piece, allowing all of my talents to shine in the brightest light.
Taboo! Advertisement
In the realm of creativity and social consciousness, I embarked on a journey to merge the power of visual storytelling with the impactful message of cultural appreciation and awareness. This journey was centered around the creation of an advertisement for Taboo, a socially conscious t-shirt company that prides itself on designs "made by your culture, for your culture." Harnessing the expansive library of Unsplash, I curated and edited stock footage, weaving together a narrative that not only showcased the vibrant and diverse designs of Taboo's products but also echoed the ethos of inclusivity and cultural pride.
My role in this project was multifaceted. I spearheaded the scriptwriting process, crafting a narrative that resonated with our target audience while encapsulating the brand's mission. The script was not a solitary endeavor; it was shaped and refined through the valuable feedback from my group, ensuring that every word spoken was in harmony with our collective vision and the brand's identity.
The editing process was an exercise in creativity and technical proficiency. Just as an artist selects the perfect palette to bring their canvas to life, I meticulously selected clips that would breathe life into our narrative, ensuring that each frame contributed to a cohesive and compelling story. This was not merely an exercise in aesthetic appeal but a deliberate effort to forge a connection with the viewer, inviting them to be a part of a movement that celebrates culture and unity.
The project was a testament to the power of collaborative creativity and the impact of visually driven storytelling. Through the lens of social consciousness, we crafted an advertisement that was not just seen but felt, inviting viewers to embrace their culture with pride and to support a brand that stands as a beacon of inclusivity and diversity. In this project, I harnessed my skills in scriptwriting, video editing, and thoughtful consideration of feedback to create a piece that transcends traditional advertising, embodying the spirit of "made by your culture, for your culture."
